BENNECKE Christmas Celebration

Last Saturday we had our annual Christmas celebration in La Casa del Reloj in San Pedro del Pinatar. We all had a really good time and more food than is decent. The champagne was cold and plenty, so it was no wonder that our lunch carried on into the early hours.

With these pictures the whole BENNECKE team would like to wish all our clients, business partners and occasional readers a very merry christmas and a happy new year!

MerryChristmas

That will teach you all to wear your Santa´s hats!!

Here is a proper one :)

My clumsy moon shot….

moon

Quite bright it was, but bigger than usual? I don´t know…

I thought, it was a lot bigger the morning of the 12th December before the sun rose…. Unluckily I did not bring out a camera to walk the dog.

Biggest Full Moon in 15 years!

Today, at 9:48 p.m. Universal Time, the moon will be closer to Earth than it’s been in the last 15 years.

The moon will be less than 357,000 kilometers – or 222,000 miles – away. After today, the moon won’t come this close to Earth for another 8 years.

Today is also the full moon. And the next time the moon comes this close – on November 14, 2016 – it’ll be full again.

Extra close moons happen when the full moon coincides with the moon’s closest point to Earth for the month, an event called ‘perigee’ by astronomers. And in case you’re wondering, the moon’s phase does influence its closest distance for each month.

Consider that when a quarter moon happens at perigee – and is closest to Earth – the moon is at right angles to the Earth and sun – so that keeps the moon slightly farther away.

But when a full moon coincides with perigee, the sun, Earth and moon make a line in space. The moon’s orbit stretches closer to Earth. So the coincidence of perigee and full moon brings the moon closer to Earth than at any other phase. By the way, the sun’s varying distance also influences the moon’s distance. Because we’re closest to the sun around New Year’s Day, the closest full moon perigees always occur at the beginning or the end of the year.

Pleasant Surprise: Telefonica

Many people have unpleasant things to say about the Telefonica, so let me make a change and say something nice about them.

Imagine an elderly neighbor in his front garden up on a rickety stepladder with a chainsaw (no I am not kidding). It was time (according to him) to cut the trees. So there he is making a copious amount of noise and dirt when down comes a nondescript black cable that unfortunately leeds to my home. Another neighbor who witnessed the incedent, asks me casually: Do you have a landline telephone in your house. I answer yes, thinking she might want to make a phone call (silly me). So my neighbor suggest to check the phone, which I did and obviously it was dead.

Bearing in mind that it was saturday of a bank holiday weekend, how long do you think did it take Telefonica to fix the landline??

I asked that several people, amongst which were some happy souls suggesting some time in January….

My phone was actually working again on Tuesday morning and they apologized for not having been there on monday, but it was a bank holiday… So here is a well done to the swift technicians from Telefonica.
